I'm looking forward to this weekend as the Island Steam Show at Havenstreet is on for 4 days Friday 23rd to Monday the 26th. This is always a good show with plenty to see and do.
If you have never been to the show you are missing a treat and I would recommend this to anyone.
I am actually there as an exhibitor helping out on the Wight Film and Video Club stand on the Friday and Sunday morning so pop by and have a chat!

Hi, my name is Michael Collinson and this is the first of, hopefully, many regular posts on life and living in the Isle of Wight.
I will be featuring and reviewing interesting places, things to do, news and much much more from this lovely island
One of the first things to consider is actually getting to the island, there is only really one practical way of getting here and that is by ferry. There are two ferry companies running from various ports, Wightlink and Red Funnel.
Wightlink runs services from Lymington to Yarmouth, Portsmouth to Fishbourne and Portsmouth to Ryde. ( Foot passengers only ) Red Funnel run services from Portsmouth to both East Cowes and West Cowes (foot passengers only ) There is also a passenger-only hovercraft run by Hovertravel from Southsea to Ryde. Travel to the island is not particularly cheap so it pays to book in advance if you can to get the best prices. In addition, if you are a resident you can get a 20% discount.
There is always a lot going on in the Island throughout the year and coming up shortly in early September is the classic car show, held over two days in Newport and Ryde on the 14th and 15th from 10am to 6pm
With over 700 cars to view, it is a great day out for anyone with an interest in cars
